9610 John Deere

We have updated our combines so we are selling these units. This is also a 1998 model with single 30.5 x 32 tires on the front that are 75% ish tread left. Rears are 16.9 x 26 that have to be all of 50%. We have owned this machine since 2014 and it has done well. It received anything it needed over the years. We replaced the cylinder bars and concave a few seasons back so they are in good shape yet. Two seasons ago, it developed a crack in one of the walkers so we replaced it and also put the wood walker bearings in that do not need to be greased. It has a blend of the JD bearings and some aftermarket bearings. I used Cenex 15W40 oil and Wix filters. Engine oil was changed between 100 and 125 hours. It does use a bit the last 40-50 hours before changing. It got new inner and outer air filters every year. We just blew out the outer filter a few times throughout the season. Hydraulic fitlers were replaced roughly every 3 years or so. And I would do all three of them.

A year after we purchased it, we noticed it was starting to crack out where the rear shoe pivot mounted. I ended up welding in a plate on each side and replaced all the rubber bushings in the shaker system. It is all painted up and the untrained eye would never see it from the outside. But you can see from the inside that there was a crack that was tacked back together. Just figure it's worth mentioning before you drive 100 miles and find it for yourself. It has never given a lick of trouble since and I'd stamp my name in the repair. But it is worth noting.

The fella we purchased this machine from had been experiencing engine trouble and ended up putting in a reman short block from John Deere. The dealership in Mohall performed the repair. It had 1960 engine hours when this was done.

I changed the gear oil in the feeder house reverser gear box, countershaft gear box, and cylinder gear box every other year. I also changed the final drive gear oil a couple times since owning it. Once was because one side developed a leak where it splits in half. So new oil was put in after the repair.

She certainly isn't a new one but I think you would have a heck of a time finding one that has been cared for as well as this one has. Feel free to call me with any questions. Located near Dunseith ND.
