Essential Duties:
Conduct pre-operation safety check (walk around) of equipment, mounting and dismounting, and operate the following equipment: track dozer, scraper, blade, rubber-tired dozer, overburden truck, water truck, and excavator.
Perform the proper instrument checks, and warm and cold weather equipment start-up and shut-down procedures as outlined on the warning plates in the cab and in the operator's manual.
Read survey stakes, station markers and understand different slopes. Able to operate equipment fitted with GPS systems.
Perform job duties in accordance with MSHA law and regulations, established company safety procedures and state and federal environmental regulations.
Other Duties:
May assist or service equipment and perform routine repairs.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must be able to work under adverse conditions such as mud and frost. Also understand the workings of the equipment so as to operate properly and within tolerances as well as to perform preventive maintenance and servicing which may be required. Applicants must have a valid drivers license and be willing to work rotating shifts.
Education and Experience:
On-the-job training or vocational training.
